Nvidia announces the acquisition of SwiftStack, the company behind the object-based storage and architectural technology currently found in Nvidia products. The financial details of the deal are not available.

Founded in 2011, SwiftStack is an early member of the OpenStack project. It is also one of the biggest contributors to the OpenStack Swift open storage platform, and last year announced SwiftStack 7 with a focus on AI, HPC and accelerated computing. This made the company very relevant to the interests of Nvidia, especially since it previously worked with companies such as Ebay, Google and Valohai, and has experience with hardware from the likes of Cisco, Dell, HPE and Supermicro.

MegaDC servers are purpose-built and flexible COTS designed for hyperscale infrastructure deployments. According to the company, the servers offer increased cost effectiveness and reliability through a reduced component count and optimised power distribution and backplane designs. The servers support open standards, including OpenBMC, for custom control over functionality and versioning, advanced I/O modules (AIOM) with support for OCP V3.0 SFF cards and common redundant power supplies (CRPS).

Vaddio RoboSHOTVaddio builds on the RoboSHOT 30E NDI camera with the RoboSHOT 12E, a PTZ camera featuring NewTek NDI, the low latency technology allowing video systems to detect and communicate with each other over IP.

The RoboSHOT 12E NDI camera is a recognisable video source by other NDI-enabled applications and devices connected to a standard local area network. In addition, users can access camera controls such as pan/tilt/zoom through NDI, creating a complete IP workflow for operator control. NDI technology allows the sharing of audio and video sources across a network, eliminating the need for direct connections and infrastructure upgrades. It also turns every source into a destination available anywhere on the network.

Monitors also did well in full-year 2019, as shipments are up by 1.5%. Boosting such monitor momentum is the business segment, with device refresh projects further consolidating the market. In fact, the top 3 vendors-- Dell, HP and TPV-- hold nearly 50% of the 2019 market. Other factors further helped the market, including the increase in monitor sizes (23.8-inch screens overtook the 21.5-inch) and strong gaming monitor adoption.
