Jon Peddie Research (JPR) reports the Q4 2011 workstation market remains in the "doldrums"-- WW shipments reach 918.4 thousands units, down by -8.1% from 1.02m units in Q3 2011.
This makes Q4 2011 the second consecutive quarter of negative growth, the first such occurrence since Q3 and Q4 2008. The analyst predicts Q1 2012 will show flat results.
However JPR remains relatively optimistic, saying "The market just needs a kick start, and it should see that in Q2 2012 results, behind the momentum of a top-to-bottom refresh of workstation-class platforms from Intel."
HP is top Q4 2011 vendor, with 39.5% shipment share. Dell follows at 32.4%, while Lenovo shows the most quartely growth.
