EMEA shows yearly server growth (in both shipments and revenue), Gartner reports-- even if the market remains below pre-downturn levels, reflecting ongoing economic concerns within EMEA regions.
Q2 2011 shipments in EMEA total 611000 units-- with 5% Y-o-Y growth and vendor revenues totalling $3.69Bn (15.2% Y-o-Y growth).
Gartner says "Revenue growth outpacing shipment growth shows the strength in some high-end platforms."
All key segments see revenue growth in Q2 2011-- X86 systems grow by 16.2%, while the "other" CPU category grows by 36.2% (with the IBM System Z platform driving growth).
RISC/Itanium Unix systems also grow, but only by 2.1% Y-o-Y as it "continues to be squeezed between x86 and mainframe platforms."
Vendor-wise, all top 5 vendors show revenue growth-- except Dell.
HP holds the top position, with 12% Y-o-Y growth. IBM follows with the strongest revenue growth yet (30% Y-o-Y). Ranking in 3rd place, Dell revenues decline by -5% Y-o-Y due to weak public sector spending.
On a global basis, Q2 2011 server shipments grow 8% Y-o-Y while revenues grow 19.5% Y-o-Y.
Gartner says Q2 2011 shows "solid growth on a yearly basis" as the industries continues its recovery through slow improvements.
