BrightSign Players Rated for Extreme Cold

Digital signage vendor BrightSign announces the Series 4 players are certified for use in temperatures as low as -20°C, improving on the initial rating for use in temperatures up to 70°C.

Brightsign series 4The recent certification for low-temperature use establishes a 90-degree Celsius extended thermal operational range for BrightSign players, allowing use in virtually any extreme temperature setting. Allowing such use is a patented, heat-dissipating anodised aluminium case design designed for relatively unprotected applications, such as outdoor kiosks, automobile mounts and other outdoor installations.

“Operating at high temperatures is a common requirement for our players because they’re frequently installed in confined spaces with limited ventilation,” the company says. “But with rapidly expanding use-cases, we see a growing demand for players rated for low-temperature operation. Certifying our players for use at -20°C makes them a perfect choice for any project where the hardware will be exposed to extreme cold.”

To assure reliable operation in extreme conditions, BrightSign series 4 HD, XD and XT media players are designed to operate in ambient temperatures between -20°C and 70°C at 90% maximum relative humidity, non-condensing
