Dell Buys Even More Software

Dell is making more and more software purchases-- it just acquired software modernisation services providers Make Technologies and Clerity Solutions.

DellBoth purchases offer similar services, and will provide Dell with "the capabilities to help customers with all their modernization needs—from re-hosting and re-platforming to code re-engineering."

Make counts giants in its customer base, including IBM and Oracle. It employs around 100 people, who will now move to the Dell Services team... as will Clerity's 70 employees.

Dell does not specify whether the 2 companies will continue operating as independent entities or not, and gives no further details on the purchases.

At a February 2011 press event Michael Dell insisted his company is "not really a PC company," but an end-to-end IT solutions company. Which more than explains all the recent software purchases-- just last week Dell bought thin client outfit Wyse Technology, while on March it acquired network security and data protection vendor SonicWall.
