SAP rolls out Hana service pack 10 (SPS10), with means to handle enterprise-scale Internet of Things (IoT) and big data management, together with Predictive Analytics 2.2, now able to handle ultra-wide data sets.

SAP HANADescribed as the biggest Hana update since its 2010 launch, SPS10 features a data-synchronisation feature for customers wanting to synch data between enterprise and remote locations at the edge of the network via SAP SQL Anywhere embeddable database technology. The result allows the secure capture of data from remote locations for feeding into Hana for analysis.

The update also features data-integration support for the latest Hadoop distributions from Cloudera and Hortonworks, as well as faster Spark SQL data transfers, rules-based data movement among multiple storage tiers and a web-based development workbench.

NUMA (non-uniform memory access)-aware architecture allows support for large-scale systems with over 12TB of memory.

Meanwhile Predictive Analytics 2.2 features wider data set support for improved predictive modeling, as well as numerous algorithm additions to the automatic predictive library, improved R integration and model-comparison capabilities.

Also launched is a mobile app for the SAP Cloud for Planning SaaS, providing customers with notifications of events and the means to discuss plans in real time from any location, all with a consumer application-style UI.
