One HP Product for Record Management

HP will no longer sell multiple records management products-- the company goes for further software consolidation and rolls HP TRIM, Autonomy Records Manager and Autonomy Meridio into a single application.

HPDubbed Records Manager 8, the application is built on the TRIM codebase if with Records Manger and Meridio capabilities.

"Our customers understood it was not a good decision to continue to maintain three different records management products in the market," HP global director of information governance software says. "The goal of HP was to combine the best of those products into a [single] platform, and make it easier to use and more efficient."

Among the Autonomy and Meridio functionality found in Records Manager are SharePoint compatibility and data warehouse capabilities, all within a revamped create and search interface.

Records management officers get a separate console for administrative duties of the file plan and retention policy creation variety.

HP acquired Autonomy for $11.1 billion back in 2011, while Meridio is a 2007 Autonomy purchase. Autonomy remains a controversial acquisition for HP, and is currently subject of a shareholder class-action lawsuit suing HP execs past and present for $1bn in damages.

HP Records Manager 8 should be available from September 2013.
