Dell announces a Latitude tablet upgrade-- the Latitude ST, a Windows 7 tablet designed for enterprise use.
It has a 10.1" display and carries a 1.5GHz Intel Atom Z670 processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Running VMware and Citrix virtualisation technology, it allows remote configuration and management through Dell Kace appliances. Dell software also provides critical data protection and encryption.
Protection comes through rubberised bumper, TPU overmold and an anti-glare Gorilla Glass display, and ports include USB, HDMI and SD card reader.
Dell fails to mention whether the Latitude ST is directly upgradeable to the forthcoming Windows 8-- the OS update aiming directly for tablet use coming out sometime next year.
