Gefen says the Matrix Controller (EXT-CU-LAN) offers an easier way to detect, configure and configure Gefen HDMI, DVI and VGA over IP products through a user-friendly web interface.
It detects all Gefen sender and receiver units on a LAN, and assigns IP addresses to each one. Once senders and receivers are configured it controls AV signal routers just like a traditional cross-point matrix, but with no need for traditional AV cables.
Instead, AV is distributed over LAN via network switch, allowing for flexibility in source and display placement, scalability and expansion.
“This scalable, flexible and easy to use solution enables end-users to control a virtual matrix system comprised of Gefen’s AV over IP products,” Gefen says. “The Matrix Controller features two separate IP ports that provide independent levels of access and control for administrators and end-users, providing an unprecedented level of functionality that makes this product a natural choice for large distribution systems in mission-critical applications."
The UI is accessible through any web-enabled device, including smartphones, tablets and PCs, and makes it easy to locate devices among a sea of IP addresses. Other control options include front-panel buttons, IR remote, Telnet and UDP.
As for installation, one can use stand-alone tabletop placement and rack mounting, while power comes through either Power over Ethernet (PoE) or dedicated power supply.
