Cisco combines chat, audio, video, multi-party meetings and content sharing in a single collaboration app-- Project Squared, a means to "stay connected across devices, time zones, and project team" according to the company.
Built on the Cisco Collaboration Cloud, Project Squared is similar to chat services such as WhatsApp. It allows users to share messages and content, and integrates with tools such as calendar, Active Directory, WebEx and Box. It runs on mobile devices (iOS and Android) as well as web browsers, with no VPN or plugins required, and features mobile notifications to ensure team members are always reachable.
Meanwhile the Cisco cloud provides enterprise security features in the shape of end-to-end content encryption and management of corporate SSO and IT-approved passwords.
Project Squared will be available as a free download (if with paid-for premium features) on the iOS and Google app stores on Q2 2014.
