Mitel, Vidyo Tackle Multimedia on VMware Virtual Desktops

Print

VMware virtual desktops get an integrated UCC and video conferencing solution with View-- a joint effort between Mitel, Vidyo and VMware.

VmwareThe system combines the Mitel virtualised Unified Communicator Advanced client and the VidyoConferencing collaboration solution into a single unified solution on VMware virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

The companies claim the system represents a technology breakthrough. It breaks communications in 2 pieces-- rich media and call-processing (setting up connections). The call-processing component goes through the data centre while the rich media component goes directly to the endpoint.

Thus View provides access to video conferencing, voice, presence, secure IM, audio and web conferencing, document sharing, voice messaging and email on either terminals or virtual desktop clients, without performance/latency issues or the need for a multipoint control unit (MCU).
