Microsoft Delays Surface Hub

Customers wanting the Surface Hub giant camera-equipped tablet/videoconferencing and collaboration replacement will have to wait a little longer-- Microsoft delays shipments of the devices until January 2016.

Surface HubThe Surface Hub was initially set to ship in a number of European markets from September 2015, following the 1 July opening of preorders. Why the delay? Apparently demand was strong enough to cause a reworking of Microsoft manufacturing processes in order to handle amounts of the device.

First announced back at the January 2015 Windows 10 event, the Surface Hub available in 2 sizes-- 55-inch (for small conference rooms, offices and "huddle spaces") and 84-inch (for larger meeting rooms). It carries cameras, speakers, mics, Bluetooth, NFC and stylus-based input, as well as large-screen apps (including PowerPoint and Skype for Business) configured for touch and stylus input.

Actual selling of the Surface Hub comes through authorised Microsoft partners with "strength and expertise" in AV and UC.
