Barco re-launches the Virtual Classroom system-- the latest use case of the weConnect, cloud-based SaaS solution-- as it announces a first install at the IESE Business School in Barcelona.

Barco weConnectAccording to the company the Virtual Classroom allows business schools, universities and corporate learning centres to deliver a more personalised learning experience not only to students within the walls of a classroom, but to students across the globe. Teachers engage and interact as if in a traditional classroom setting, with video files, live chats, interactive learning activities and instant feedback from students.

Thus, the system recreates the face-to-face learning experience had on campus sessions, with integrated interactivity features such as interactive polls and quizzes, silent questions and collaborative whiteboards delivered via user friendly browser interface.

Offered on an SaaS basis, the subscription-based business model offers customers the flexibility to expand easily and control expenses in balance with actual needs. This enables new opportunities for weConnect customers to adapt and expand their learning offering, as well as become more cost efficient in addressing the ever growing needs and continuously changing requirements for lifelong learning.

Barco installed the first scalable virtual classroom at the IESE Business School in Barcelona. The Virtual Classroom hosts up to 80 people in synchronous sessions from across the world, in high quality and with AV production similar to broadcast. IESE plans to use the technology in the majority of programs as a reinforcement of face-to-face teaching at 5 campuses.
