High-performance data management solution provider DataDirect Networks (DDN) completes the acquisition of VM-aware storage vendor Tintri, thanks to a deal worth $60 million.

Tintri DDN“We look forward to bringing the exceptional suite of virtualization and analytics products that Tintri has developed over the last decade to enterprise and hybrid cloud organizations around the world,” DDN says. “Our first order of business is to deliver immediate world-class support to the more than one thousand Tintri customers worldwide. Beyond that, we are thrilled to help businesses achieve significant value and transformational simplicity for their server virtualization, DevOps and VDI needs.”

Following the acquisition Tintri becomes "Tintri by DDN," as DDN takes over the Tintri installed base of 1600 customers. DDN also plans to hire a team of support, engineering and field operations professionals to support Tintri customers, even as Tintri is to remain an autonomous DDN division with own salesforce, support and engineering resources.

Tintri currently offers the T800 VMStore hybrid flash storage array range and the all-flash EC6000 family. All Tintri arrays offer advanced replication functionality (ReplicateVM), cloud-as-a-tier, data lifecycle management, copy data management (SyncVM) and Quality of Service functionality, with support for VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation and XenServer. They also support NFS and SMB file access.

Founded in 2008, Tintri ended up in trouble following a June 2017 IPO. Initially valued at $225m, a drop in share prices lead to it filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just a year later.
