Deutsche Telekom Sets to Fight American Clouds

Deutsche Telekom joins forces with Huawei to announce the Open Telekom Cloud-- a European alternative to American public clouds to be officially launched at CeBIT 2016.

Europe cloudThe collaboration combines Huawei hardware and solutions expertise with operations, network, datacentre and cloud management from Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems. Deutsche Telekom provides the network, while T-Systems German datacentres promise "top quality and maximum security."

It is designed for use by both SMBs and large companies, and offers a flexible choice of computing capacity, memory and storage options, all with a focus on maximum security and compliance with European data legislation.

"More and more business customers are discovering the advantages of the public cloud, but they want a European alternative," T-Systems says. "With the Open Telekom Cloud we are now adding the right platform. It is designed to be simple, secure, and affordable."

Deutsche Telekom plans to double cloud revenues from business customers by end 2018, following 2014 cloud services revenues growth reaching "a significant double-digit figure." It also offers a secure private cloud solution, together with a growing partner ecosystem with solutions from SAP, Microsoft, Cisco, Salesforce, VMware, Huawei, Oracle and SugarCRM, among others.
