The 2019 SAP TechEd conference sees the German company announce SAP HANA Cloud Services-- a combination of the capabilities of Data Warehouse Cloud, HANA Cloud and Analytics Cloud in a single set of interconnected services.

SAP Cloud services“Our business technology platform brings SAP HANA and analytics closer together with SAP Cloud Platform so users can make smarter, faster and more-confident business decisions,” the company says. “SAP ensures high levels of openness and flexibility including out-of-the-box integration, modularity and ease of extension in cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment models. With this open and flexible approach, SAP is committed to helping our customers achieve superior business outcomes.”

Bringing together SAP technology into one stack with a signe reference architecture allows the platform to deliver required services. It encompasses database and data management, application development and integration, analytics, intelligent technologies and services to help customers extend SAP applications, integrate the landscape and build applications to improve business processes. In addition, partnerships with hyperscale vendors and interoperability with their technology brings a high level of scalability and flexibility.

Data Warehouse Cloud is a business-ready cloud-based data warehouse offering a self-service solution to tie all business data and translate it into value. It allows customers to avoid the high up-front costs of a traditional data warehouse, and can scale as data demands grow. It can be deployed either stand-alone or as an extension of an exisitng on-premise SAP BW/4HANA solution or SAP software.

The cloud-native HANA Cloud offers a single virtual interactive access layer across all data sources, with a scalable query engine, decoupling data consumption from data management. It can be deployed as a stand-alone solution or as an extension to existing on-premise environments, allowing customers to benefit from the cloud and the ability to analyse live, transactional data.

Analytics Cloud includes enhancements for enterprise planning, with tools such as a wizard able to automatically create calendar tasks for planning process contributors. A "builder tool" creates different versions of rolling forecasts, while improved "data actions" include prompts and variables to cover the same calculations across plans, helping save time by maintaining a single, complex calculation instead of managing multiple versions.

In addition, SAP announces the 4.3 release of the BusinessObjects Intelligence suite, an update offering on-premise enhancements as well as tighter integration with Analytics Cloud.
