Akamai sets to improve the security of cloud-based enterprise applications and services through the acquisition of Soha Systems, a specialist in "enterprise secure access delivered as a service."

AkamaiNo financial details of the deal are available.

Soha offers 3rd party access to cloud resources without need for software or hardware updates, creating a central point of entry controlled by the vendor. As a result it strips away unnecessary resource acces and increases security compliance, all while simplifying and improving remote and mobile access to enterprise resources.

"In many ways, the traditional enterprise model is "turning inside out" with applications, employees and data moving to the cloud, well outside of the enterprise's traditional zone of control. At the same time, security and IT teams remain responsible for ensuring visibility, security and performance," Akamai says. "By adding Soha's secure access technology to our cloud networking solutions, we believe we are well positioned to help our customers take full advantage of the key trends, cloud and mobile, driving enterprise computing."
