EU Funds for Secure Cloud Computing

The EU finds a 3-year cloud computing research project-- "Trustworthy Clouds" or TClouds.

CloudThe project touches on cloud computing's privacy and security issues, from regulatory and legal issues to how remotely-stored data can be secured.

It will research on development of better privacy-protection protocols, security standards and secure cloud management components.

IBM leads the project and its 12 partners (European companies and research organisations). The EU provides €7.5 million in funds, with €3 million coming from the partners.

IBM says the research probably won't end up in products for more than a decade, due to its being basic research.
