A Ceptor in Zero Client Computing

Print

Devon IT proposes a new means of turning monitors and displays into zero clients-- the Ceptor, a compact device the size of a USB memory stick customers connect to displays via HDMI.

CeptorThe Ceptor features a configurable, persistent and fully manageable enterprise client desktop, making it ideal for a variety of applications. Handling virtual desktop access is ZeTOS, the Devon IT zero client OS.

The device carries a dual-core ARM processor, integrated Bluetooth and wifi capability, and a pre-installed ZetOS client. Thin client management comes through the Echo software platform.

ZetOS runs in a stateless condition, with users unable to execute unauthorised software or initiate remote sessions. Ceptor devices do not broadcast or auto-discover network protocols (eliminating the need for firewall or routing rules) and lack persistent memory, making them safe from virus or malicious software threats.

Future Ceptor versions will also offer lower cost processors and Android as OS.
