HP announces the OpenStack cloud support of 3PAR StoreServ and StoreVirtual storage technologies across iSCSI and Fibre Channel protocols at the OpenStack Summit 2013.

Openstack clouds"Channel partners can use our APIs to provide different customization capabilities to customers that can only be done using open source," HP storage VP of marketing Craig Nunes says.

OpenStack technology is also integrated into HP CloudSystem 7.2, providing further functionality for customers and partners building enterprise-grade private, public and hybrid clouds.

The technology allows CloudSystem 7.2 to support "bursting" capabilities and KVM resource pools, tapping into external CloudSystem resources on a pay-as-you-go basis. New activation services help partners and customers burst cloud processes from one CloudSystem to another, while HP also offers education to staff operating and managing the technology.

The HP public cloud portfolio also gets an OpenStack-powered addition-- Cloud Messaging, a service duplicating messages on multiple servers, enabling developers to build more fault-tolerant applications and reduce application downtime.
