Palo Alto Bolsters Security With Aporeto

Palo Alto NetworksPalo Alto Networks gets to boost the security capabilities of the Prisma platform with the acquisition of Aporeto, a machine identity-based microsegmentation company, for $150 million in cash.

“We are thrilled to welcome Aporeto to the Palo Alto Networks family,” Palo Alto says. “We believe the addition of Aporeto’s unique machine identity technology will further enhance our leading Prisma Cloud capabilities and strengthen our commitment to helping customers secure their journey to the cloud.”

Recognised as a Gartner Cool Vendor in Security in 2018, Aporeto identifies workloads and applies microsegmentation across all infrastructures. The Aporeto product portfolio covers distributed firewall, cloud-based priviledged access management (PAM) and identy-aware proxy, and will make part of the Prisma suite post-acquisition.

The Prisma platform was launched back in May 2019 includes Prisma Access, a secure access service edge (SASE) connecting mobile users, branch offices and other distributed environment aspects, the cloud-native Prisma Cloud security platform and Prisma SaaS, a means to protect Software-as-a-Service applications and VM-series firewalls.
