Palo Alto Networks gets to boost the security capabilities of the Prisma platform with the acquisition of Aporeto, a machine identity-based microsegmentation company, for $150 million in cash.

Recognised as a Gartner Cool Vendor in Security in 2018, Aporeto identifies workloads and applies microsegmentation across all infrastructures. The Aporeto product portfolio covers distributed firewall, cloud-based priviledged access management (PAM) and identy-aware proxy, and will make part of the Prisma suite post-acquisition.
The Prisma platform was launched back in May 2019 includes Prisma Access, a secure access service edge (SASE) connecting mobile users, branch offices and other distributed environment aspects, the cloud-native Prisma Cloud security platform and Prisma SaaS, a means to protect Software-as-a-Service applications and VM-series firewalls.
