Cisco Brings Visibility to WAN

The fragmented nature of WAN makes it one of IT's biggest blind spots, Cisco says-- and company promises to bring make it more visible through a pair of solutions, SD-WAN vAnalytics and Meraki Insight.

Cisco WAN“We have set an ambitious goal for ourselves of transforming the entire network, from campus to branch, data center to edge,” Cisco says. “The WAN is a vital part of the network and is one of the toughest to manage. As we bring insight into the WAN with these new innovations, we get closer to delivering end-to-end intent-based networking to help our customers eliminate downtime and save money.”

SD-WAN vAnalytics is based on technology from Viptela, a cloud-based SD-WAN player Cisco acquired back in May 2017. As one might expect, it is a cloud-based SaaS solution bringing data, analysis and corrective actions across the WAN, including branch offices, multicloud endpoints and multiple service providers. vAnalytics allows customers to identify stress points and necessary policy changes, enabling optimal application experiences.

Meanwhile Meraki Insight is an addition to the Meraki providing end-to-end visibility with application and WAN performance analytics. It allows customers to understand and troubleshoot both internal and external issues, helping bring about faster time to resolution for performance issues through more accurate problem pinpointing.

SD-WAN vAnalytics is available now via Cisco SD-WAN license tier. Meraki Insight follows on Q3 2018 as a separate license.
