HPE Presents Software-Defined HPC Platform

HP Enterprise (HPE) announces a number of high-performance computing (HPC) solutions-- including a software-defined HPC platform and Apollo server enhancements.

HPE ApolloThe HPC platform combines the HPE Core HPC Software Stack with Insight Cluster Management Utility v8.0. The result, according to HPE, is a flexible yet comprehensive software-defined platform for HPC able to speed up server cluster configuration, deployment and management.

Further leveraging on the platform is are enhancements on the Apollo 6000 system-- specifically ProLiant XL260a server trays based on next generation Intel Xeon Phi processors and Intel Omni-Path Architecture (OPA). Apollo 2000 systems and ProLiant DL server platforms also get OPA fabric options, while both Apollo 6000 and 2000 systems get next-generation Mellanox EDR 1000Gb/s Infiniand networking.

A final announcements involve ANSYS, the HPE CAE software solution. According to the company ANSYS is designed to handle large data sets and address the prototyping needs of both large and mid-market customers, with faster completing CAE simulation, higher resource management and up to x2 more computing capacity per square foot.
