QLogic's latest storage network adapters offload fibre channel and TCP/IP processing. This frees up server CPU cycles.
The CNAs are the 8200 series 10GbE, the 3200 series 10GbE ethernet adapter and a cLOM product.
The products perform switch-agnostic VM-to-VM communication with physical machines and employ 10GbE and dual 10GbE ports from a single chip.
Evaluator Group senior analyst John Webster says the CNAs allow network admins to shift server workloads from an iSCSI SAN to FCoE SAN without rebooting servers or waiting for an outage window.
QLogic says the cards are cloud ready and designed for virtualised data centers, cloud service provider and converged data center network requirements.
A single console interface manages all three CNAs, and all come with QLogic's data encrypting SecureFlex firmware.
