Virtualised Server Sales on the Rise in CEMA

Q2 virtualised server shipments in CEMA surge 70.3% year-on-year, IDC says.

IDC's Quarterly Server Virtualisation Tracker reports 12.6% of servers shipped in the region are virtualised-- 16867 units, an increase of 3.1% over last year. 

HP leads the market in virtualised server shipments, followed by IBM and Dell. The top three's market share reaches 79%.

VMware, with Microsoft second, lead in the x86 virtualisation licenses market. 

IDC CEMA Research Analyst Mohamed Hefny says the region's IT administrators take advantage of many free hypervisors-- a perfect solution for SMEs. Virtualisation addresses risk management issues and guarantees business continuity, he continues.
