HP announces additions to the BladeSystem, Converged Storage and Networking solutions portfolio at its annual Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas.
First revealed is the BladeSystem c700 Platinum enclosure-- with backplane driving 7Tb/sec of aggregate bandwidth (up from 5Tb/sec in the 2006 c7000 chassis). It is paired with the SX1018 ethernet switch to provide what HP claims is the lowest port-to-port latency of any blade switch.
It supports either x8 full-height or x16 half-height blades in a 10U rack enclosure, with own location and thermal discovery features complementing those embedded in ProLiant Gen8 servers.
The second announcement is the ProLiant WS4160c Gen8 server blade-- a bladed infrastructure able to handle virtual desktop deployments through high density graphics processors. It carries up to x8 GPUs per blade server, with each blade supporting multiple users using either Citrix or VMware GPU pass-through technology.
It supports Intel Xeon E5-2600 processors and Nvidia Quadro 3000M, 1000M, 500M, 6000 and 5000 GPUs.
When it comes to storage, HP launches StoreSystem-- a channel-only midrange storage solution combining the 3PAR StoreServe Storage and StoreOnce Backup systems in a preracked package offering primary block-and-file storage with all 3PAR and VMware software suites.
