Hitachi GST launches an enterprise multilevel cell (MLC) NAND Flash SSD series, the Ultrastar SSD400M, coming in 200GB and 400GB capities, with a 6Gbp/s SAS interface.
The series makes use of Hitachi GST's SLC technology (part of its joint development program with Intel) giving the drives enterprise-class capabilities.
The 400GB version handles up to 7.3 petabytes of data writes over its lifetime.
Hitachi says it also features a mean time between failure rating of 2M hours-- comparable to the company's own SLC Flash SSDs.
