Euro Debut of Mitsubishi Electric 70” LCD

Mitsubishi Electric’s MDT701S will make its European debut at ISE 2013.

The flagship 70” edge-lit LED display is the largest professional LCD monitor ever offered by Mitsubishi, suited for public display or corporate settings.

Its LED illumination means reduced power consumption and slimmer profile, while delivering a 5000:1 contrast ratio and increased colour gamut. Lifespan is also increased and LEDs create less environmental impact at end of life.

Versatility is a key feature of the MDT701S: the maker cites ”quick and easy deployment in any application.” An Open Pluggable Standard (OPS) slot allows it to be used with a large number of vendor add-ins, such as single-board PC’s, 3G and SDI cards (which make it well-suited to digital signage networks).

The MDT701S also features a built-in plug ‘n’ play USB hub that allows up to five USB hubs to be cascaded to a maximum of 16 USB inputs. MDT701S also supports LAN connections and is compatible with AMX Device Discovery and Crestron Roomview enabling it to be monitored, managed and controlled across the network or from web-enabled Apple iPhone, iPad or Android devices via Crestron’s Fusion RV software. World’s First 84” UD LCD for Interactive Whiteboards

In case you have ever asked yourself the question: Can LCDs replace projector-type whiteboards?...now LG Display begins mass production of the world’s first 84” Ultra Definition (UD) LCD display for interactive whiteboards.

At 1.9m by 1.1m, LG Display’s 84” UD panel for interactive whiteboards measures as the largest LCD product of its kind, ideal for installation in classrooms as it is similar in size to conventional whiteboards currently used in schools. In addition, the display features a maximum brightness of 350 nit, 3.5x brighter than existing projector-type interactive whiteboards; and UD resolution of 3840 x 2160 (about 8.3 million pixels), 8x the image quality of current HD projectors.

LG doesn’t actually call this “a projector-killer” but their new whiteboard display attempts to solves weaknesses inherent with projector-type whiteboards. Users no longer have to turn off the lights or close multiple window blinds during the daytime to play educational content. Also, the new display eliminates occurrences of images being blocked by silhouettes and disrupting the attention of students, a major complaint with existing projector-type interactive whiteboards. (Let’s not forget the “teacher-fried-eyeballs” complaints from the teacher’s union who are insisting upon vision safeguards from projector-type boards). Read more...

Tecom Ships Universal Projector Remote Control

The TecPodium TCD-100 from Tecom Electronics allows a teacher to control a projector or flat-panel through a colorful remote with giant buttons, rather than the remote that ships with all projectors (usually with more than 20 small buttons). The TCD-100 has a built-in IR learner so it can be customized to control any display. It only has five buttons, includes MACRO functionality, is about the size of a business card and has a battery that lasts for years.

This is an interesting concept and a creative, simple product from TECOM. There are Read more...

Dynamic 3: “Foldable, Closable and Rotatable”

Arthur Holm presents its Dynamic 3 in the EMEA region for the first time during Infocomm MEA. Dynamic 3 is the latest addition to Arthur Holm furniture that integrates monitors and the maker says, it’s “the only system on the market that is electrically foldable, closable and rotatable.”

Its’ predecessor (Dynamic 2) was limited to boardroom and conference room applications because only people sitting in front of the screen could view its content. Now the new system incorporates a 180º rotation mechanism. This allows content sharing between several people, making it a viable solution for information counters at hotels, banks, insurance and retail applications besides of course meeting, conference and board rooms.
