Casio to Debut Dual Projection System at DSE

Casio's Dual Projection System combines two of Casio's 3000-lumen LED projectors to make a spec'd 6000-lumen system. It's designed so you can use two less expensive Casio projectors instead of a high-brightness projector -- it's Casio’s answer to making LED-lit projectors bright enough for high-light ambient conditions.

The system is set to automatically geometrically correct and align the two projectors in the mount-based housing. Dubbed the XJ-SK600, the system will debut at the Digital Signage Expo.

Pressure Detection for Multi-Touch Displays

FlatFrog’s Planar Scatter Detection technology (PSD) is the first multi-touch display technology to offer pressure detection.

PSD is an advanced optical in-glass multi-touch technology where light is injected inside the top glass pane and scatters wherever the top surface is touched. This scattering effect is detected, and positions of several simultaneous touches are determined. Now not only can PSD detect pressure, but it detects 1000 levels of pressure for 40 individual touches.

“This is another major breakthrough for us at FlatFrog, and it opens up exciting new possibilities for multi-touch input,” says Ola Wassvik, CTO and Co-founder of FlatFrog. “Developers can use pressure detection to improve navigation, workflow and control in operating systems and applications. Users could for example press harder to open up shortcuts or menus. Pressure detection could also eliminate unwanted touches, such as opening a link or closing a window by mistake.” Read more...

Vision Enters Visualizer Market

Vision’s new DC-1000 Techcam features 4 integrated laser pointers which outline the A4 capture area on the table, letting the user to interact more naturally with whatever they are showing.

Vision focuses on matching resolution to those display devices that these cameras are most commonly used with. Vision claim by choosing a 1600 x 1200 sensor the image quality is better, motion is smoother, and compression is minimised.

Vision’s General Manager Stuart Lockhart says “5 megapixel document cameras need such extreme compression to pass Read more...
