AFlex5D's New 40-Series with Edge Blending & 3D

Aflex5D 40 and 41 series is designed to aid high-lumens projector presentations with an ambient light presence such as conference rooms or other large venues.

The Airflex5D-40 and 41 series feature passive-3D, stacking, scaling, warping and edge blending.

The Airflex5D stacking processors use proprietary QStack integrated grid technology. QStack aligns the images of multiple stacked projectors into a bright, clear and vibrant 2D/3D image without the hassles of additional software or camera hardware. It can increase the brightness by 3X (5X, 7X or even 19X, according to manufacturer, depending on how many projectors you'd link).

When considering your cost-to-brightness ratio, the company says Airflex5D processors "will always reach less than $1 per lumen no matter how many projectors you stacking together." Read more...

Ricoh's New Ultra Short Throw Projectors

Ricoh Americas will demo the new ultra short throw Ricoh PJ WX4141N / PJ WX4141NI business projection system at InfoComm.

The Ricoh PJ WX4141NI (the "I" signifies interactive) incorporates an embedded interactivity sensor to activate an included electronic markup pen. The system turns whiteboards into immersive electronic palettes by projecting an image onto the board, enabling markup with the pen, and capturing the combined image as a sharable PDF file. Other pen devices require users to hang bulky sensors on the wall.

The PJ WX4141NI can communicate with other networkable Ricoh projectors on the local network, enabling users in different conference rooms to simultaneously view and mark up the same presentation. Read more...

New TM-IFP Flat Panel Floor Stand from Vision

With the explosion in interactive flat-panel sales, Vision enters the market with TM-IFP, an affordable motorised floor stand with 500mm of up/down travel.

Interactive flat-panels weigh in at over 70 kilograms so stability and strength are key. Vision say they have achieved that with the Techmount IFP. It has a safe working load rating of 150kg and fits to interactive and non-interactive flat-panels using a locking VESA mount.

In standard use it bolts to the floor and includes a wall support which allows a dado rail to pass behind. Vision has an optional dolly kit with 100mm wheels which can retrofit to make it portable. Read more...

Wacom and "Flipped Classroom"

Wacom and

From the USA, we learned about "Flipped Classroom" when Wacom applauded Randy Brown, third grade teacher in the state of Washington, for his creative use of Wacom tablets and other technology in his classroom.

This modern concept of education—enabled by AV-- will also make its way to Europe.

The "Flipped Classroom" concept takes lecture-style teaching and literally "flips" it around. In the case of Mr. Brown, he records his lessons on a video and his students watch and listen to his instructional piece using the classroom's AVRS (Audio Visual Recording Studio).

"It creates two of me in the classroom," says Brown. "There's the digital, recorded me and there's the live, in-classroom me." While one portion of his class of 26 students is reviewing a video, another portion is able to receive personalized and focused help from Mr. Brown. Read more...
