BrightSign debuts the BSN.cloud network and player management platform to the proAV market at InfoComm 2019, and announces the platform is available in beta form together with the BrightAuthor:connected software.

The cloud platform automates player setup and delivers a secure, scalable network management service. It is a free subscription included with all BrightSign players running BrightSign OS 8 at the Control Cloud level, which enables realtime player control and best-in-class authoring. To add a complete set of digital signage content, network management and administration tools in a secure cloud environment, the BSN.cloud Content Cloud is available as a free beta trial until 1 December 2019.

Scala Enterprise Reaches 11.07

Scala announces the latest release of the Scala Enterprise core digital signage platform, version 11.07. The update features bolstered software security, enabling authentication using single sin-on (SSO) and secure password enforcement through stricter policies.

On the security side, Scala Enterprise 11.07 includes support for SAML 2.0 and ADFS 4.0 based SSO for one-click access for enterprise users. Customers can also enable password policies such as required length, strength and duration to mitigate the risk of unauthorised access, and create IP whitelists to manage lists of trusted IP addresses.

The release also introduces four umbrella features for Content Manager, the Scala content scheduling and management platform, as well as over 50 additional enhancements. Enhanced Workgroup settings increase security and compliance, and Content manager gets support for MSSQL 2016 and 3rd party security updates.

Industry research indicates Out-of Home (OOH) advertising has a higher percentage reach than other major media, including the internet and TV. The driving force behind the rise of OOH is growing urban populations.

With growing urbanization comes new, OOH trends. Here are some to look out for in 2019…

2018 marked a tipping point for the OOH industry, with digital OOH (DOOH) advertising surpassing traditional OOH for the first time. According to Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC)[1], digital OOH advertising spend hit $659 million midway through the year, up 9%. Meanwhile, traditional OOH advertising spend reached $621 million, slumping 6%.

Digital signage vendor BrightSign announces the Series 4 players are certified for use in temperatures as low as -20°C, improving on the initial rating for use in temperatures up to 70°C.

The recent certification for low-temperature use establishes a 90-degree Celsius extended thermal operational range for BrightSign players, allowing use in virtually any extreme temperature setting. Allowing such use is a patented, heat-dissipating anodised aluminium case design designed for relatively unprotected applications, such as outdoor kiosks, automobile mounts and other outdoor installations.
