InFocus Buys Jupiter Systems

Many industry observers will tell you that InFocus created the market for projectors by developing and selling the first digital projector. Yet, isn’t it a little ironic that "the inventor of the modern day projector" has had to spend the last 10 years diversifying (as the projector market matured into a huge competition distinguished by dwindling margins.)

Of course, InFocus still sells projectors, lots of projectors. But new InFocus products and services now focus on bringing people and teams closer: from MVP100 video phones to Mondopad (the Read more...

PagerDuty Integrates with SocialCast

Operations performance management provider PagerDuty announces two-way integration with Socialcast, the VMware-owned enterprise collabration tool, at VMworld 2015.

“During an incident, enterprises must currently navigate through a glut of information sources to resolve issues and maintain uptime,” PagerDuty says. “With this integration, we’re deepening our commitment to supporting the enterprise and enabling faster and more efficient resolutions.”

As the companies put it, linking PagerDuty and Socialcast creates an integrated workflow across the tools IT operations teams use, as data required to fix problems is seamlessly accessible from any device or platform. As a result, incident understanding and solving is more efficient.

Ringdale Declares

Texas-based solid-state technology vendor Ringdale claims to breathe new life in your customers' fax machines with updates to the ModuLAN digital fax receiver, a means for converting faxes into PDF email attachments.

As the company puts it, fax machines are secure (since it is difficult to intercept faxes over analog phone lines), and as such remain popular with businesses. The ModuLAN digital fax receiver adds further security by converting faxes into PDF attachments emailed to intend recipients, thus further eliminating the risk of fax loss or interception, as well as the need for scanning or opting for digital storage.

ModuLAN is a self-contained appliance customers connect directly to the fax-phone line and LAN. It converts faxes to PDF before attaching to emails sent either directly to an inbox or preprogrammed mail server with need for a computer, and can also forward to any FPT server for archiving and distribution.

Infonetics: Enterprise Telephony Slides

According to Infonetics Research the global enterprise telephony and UC market drops by -4% to $8.7 billion in 2014 due to businesses holding off PBX equipment purchases and upgrades, even as economic conditions improve.

On the other hand UC applications are a bright spot-- demand for workforce productivity tools leads to 2014 growth reaching 20%. However PBX revenues, including TDM (time-division multiplexing) and IP PBX are down by -4% (and by -1% Y-o-Y in Q4 2014), while 2014 PBX line shipments are down by -3%.

“The enterprise telephony market continues to be tough. Just as we see one area begin to improve, it’s offset by slowdowns in geographies or market segments. Underscoring the declines are not only slowing businesses purchases but also competitive pricing, which has created unpredictable swings,” the analyst says. “The move to the cloud is having an impact in certain markets, particularly N. America.”
