ServerUK-based managed service provider SysFix Group offers customers a free small business server-- if they have 3 computers under a SysFix support contract. 

Similar to a HaaS service, the offer provides businesses with a free server for internal file sharing complete with IDS, HTTP proxy, traffic priority and an online backup option. 

The server will be available for clients for the duration of their IT contracts-- and could also be put under long-term support contracts, akin to HaaS deals.

Pyramid Research predicts enterprises will invest a large portion of their IT budgets (10-20%) on managed services over the next 18 months.

According to the company's report, enterprises chose managed services to gain a competitive advantage (through better applicability to business processes) together with the largest incentive-- costs-saving due to the recession. 

As traditional business revenue growth continues to slow down (if not decline) Pyramid suggests operators and vendors to expand their managed services offerings (replacing lost revenue).  Read more...

Solution Partner Delivered Services Remain Strong

IDC's Channel Panel in USA found partner-delivered services revenues remained strong in Q2 2009 with the highest levels (47% of total partner revenue) coming from those selling networking products.

Revenue received from reselling 3rd-party services is dramatically lower, with storage services leading the way and contributing just over 15% of partner revenue.

Services continue to grow in importance to channel partners largely because of their universal demand: all products within the IT market require services and the types of services are independent of the product vendor. In addition, services can be sold to customers at a variety of times and represent a potential annuity revenue stream for the astute channel partner.
