Gigabyte shows off 4 new server motherboard solutions at Computex 2011-- all based on Intel's Romley platform, with more options for customisation. 

The Romley-based motherboards support greater memory density (up to 24 DIMMs), PCI Express 3.0 and integrated SAS, alongside integrated graphics and remote management. 

While the standard Romley board carries 5-6 expansion slots, Gigabyte also has a 4-slot version-- not only reducing base costs, but also improving the system's thermal design and increases room on the board itself for additional features.  Read more...

Chief announces its latest addition to its Raxxess AV rack system family, the G1 series. 

The G1 Series is meant to be easy to install, and includes pre-welded ganging nuts and easily accessible hardware-- allowing installers to gang racks after loading components. 

The front and rear rack rails are adjustable, while optional doors are reversible, locking and fit the rack's front or rear. 

A vented removable bottom cover panel provides extra mounting space, and the horizontal rack rail comes with cable management slots-- allowing for easy cable management. Read more...

Microsoft's Windows 8 gets its first official appearance at the D9 Conference, showing off a new UI as well as scalability-- running not only PCs but on, according to Microsoft, "everything". 

The most obvious feature is the tile-based UI-- very similar to Windows Phone 7's-- replacing the traditional Start menu. The tiles (set up in a grid layout) can carry dynamic data on the icon itself, showing notifications and the like.
