Cloud-Centric Disaster Recovery Hits Beta

The CloudEndure disaster recovery solution reaches public beta, allowing potential customers to test out the company's cloud-based real-time replication and recovery technology.

The Israel-based startup claims CloudEndure makes downtime in the cloud nonexistant "for the first time ever," as it creates a fully functioning up-to-the-second copy of cloud-based applications on an alternate cloud location.

The application stack replica is complete with the latest storage, services and configuration data. Following initial sync the alternate region mirrors changes in real-time-- and during actual downtime a click on "Failover" replicates the entire application stack within the alternate region in minutes.

ALSO Buys Into Cloud Brokerage

ALSO becomes a "cloud enabler" with the acquisition of Finland-based cloud brokerage enablement platform developer Nervogrid Oy for an undisclosed sum.

Following finalisation of the acquisition Nrvogrid Oy will be renamed as ALSO Cloud Oy.

The main Nervogrid Oy product is Cloud Conrol Panel as a Service, a web-based technology allowing customers and resellers to provide various cloud services (including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS) via simple drag-and-drop interface. It the entire sales process, from cloud service roll-out to performance reports and billing.

EMC Intros Cloud Service 2.0

EMC claims enterprises will be able to "complete the transformation to IT-as-a-Service" with Cloud Solutions 2.0, a framework designed to allow customers fully leverage on hybrid cloud technologies.

“Now more than ever, it’s time to deliver on the Journey to Hybrid Cloud," the company says. "It’s time to bring the power of automated, on-demand, self-service capabilities within IT’s grasp and begin to accelerate the business.”

Cloud Solutions 2.0 promises the fastest possible service with features such as policy-driven IaaS, open API integration, financial transparency, enhanced security and integrated automation services enhancing application performance and operations.

VMware Takes on DaaS With Horizon

VMware launches what it claims is the first hybrid desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) solution-- Horizon DaaS, a solution allowing IT to provision, deploy and manage Windows desktops users can access from any connected device.

Based on technology from 2013 acquisition Desktone, Horizon DaaS blends on-premise and cloud-based virtual desktops running on the vCloud hybrid service. It supports both Windows server and Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments, and and provides whatt VMware says is "an adaptive user experience across devices, locations, and media for consistent quality and exceptional user experience."

The "Greener" Hybrid Cloud Solution

Iceland-based GreenQloud announces QStack, a hybrid cloud software stack enabling organisations to build private clouds able to shift heavy workloads to a "greener" public cloud.

The GreenQloud public cloud promises to be a more eco-friendly option, since it is renewable energy-powered. It also features easy-to-implement and easy-to-use software complete with customisable dashboard.
