Telecommunications provider CenturyLink joins forces with Cisco to launch Managed Cisco SD-WAN, a solution powered by the viritualised network platform and vEdge routers of Cisco subsidiary Viptela.

CenturyLink already offers a managed SD-WAN solution in collaboration with Versa Networks, but the Cisco-powered service is arguably easier to integrate with existing infrastructure fom the networking giant. As such, it supports Cisco Viptela vEdge series routers enterprise network computer system (ENCS) 5000 series virtualised network platform. It also offers customers a dedicated SD-WAN portal.

Lenovo announces a global partnership with Scale Computing-- one bringing about an edge infrastructure solution for global retailers, distributed enterprises and SMBs.

Dubbed the Scale Computing HC3 Edge Platform on Lenovo Servers, the solution consists of Lenovo server hardware and the Scale HC3 Edge platform. It brings together storage, servers and virtualisation in a comprehensive system with automated management. The system handles on-premises workloads, hybrid cloud environments and IoT deployments, and is aimed at distributed locations with limited onsite IT support, such as retail stores and bank branches.
