HPE's Mid-Market Hyper-Converged Solution

HPE aims hyper-converged solutions for the mid-market with the Hyper Converged 380-- a system based on the ProLiant DL380 server designed for mid-size and remote office branch office (ROBO) enterprises.

The system comes complete with a software stack featuring the StoreVirtual VSA software-defined storage and OneView converged VM management and automation. Extron Ships 4K DTP Twisted Pair Extenders

Extron starts shipping the DTP DP 4K 230 and 330-- transmitters and receivers for the sending of DisplayPort, audio and bidirectional RS-232 and IR signals over shielded CATx twisted pair cables.

The two devices extend signals for up to 70m or 100m, and both provide an effective means for incorporating higher resolution DisplayPort signals with embedded audio into Extron DTP systems. Video resolution support reaches 4K with simultaneous analog stereo audio signal transmission over the same shield twisted pair cable.

Cooler Datacentres Through Hot Fluid Computing

CeBIT 2016 sees German server builder Thomas-Krenn.AG present Hot Fluid Computing-- a liquid-based server cooling systems the company claims is both quieter and more energy efficient than conventional cooling systems.

Hot Fluid Cooling promises superior cooling by directly acting on server hot spots, with liquid cooling maintaining direct contact with the mainboard. The result, Thomas-Krenn says, provides even heat distribution and "drastically" reduces energy consumption.

Who Actually Has the Greenest Datacentre of Them All?

Move over Google and Facebook, a German startup claims the crown of greenest datacentre operator-- Cloud&Heat says its datacentre in Dresden uses the least energy, undercutting Google records by over 40%.

“The latest results measured in our data center at Wallotstraße in Dresden undercut the energy values of the most modern and efficient server facilities significantly. Also, those of Google and Facebook,“ the company says. “We have achieved a sensational Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.01 and Energy Reuse Effectiveness (ERE) of 0.62, with regard to a year. This is the lowest measured value worldwide. We have not reached this value in cool Scandinavia or Alaska but in our datacentre in Dresden, Germany, with a current expansion stage of 60%.”

Kramer vs Kramer – Meet the AV Over IP Network

Meet the Kramer Network, an enterprise management platform for AV over IP solutions introduced at ISE 2016.

Kramer Network is an enterprise software platform that lets you route, manage, control, operate and maintain all your Pro AV, IT and IP solutions with one convenient web-based interface: the one platform that they say can manage everything.

Kramer Network is designed to be a hybrid approach to AV networking as it manages both legacy AV devices and newer IP-based AV devices. (Now you get our “Kramer vs Kramer” headline. Kramer Network might let a legacy Kramer AV product talk to the new Kramer IP products, for example.)
