Mobile cloud-based enterprise services will be worth $39Bn by 2016 according to Juniper Research, as mobile network operators offer corporate clients a growing variety of mobile unified communications suites.

Good Technology reports tablets make 27% of enterprise customers' Q2 2011 mobile devices activations-- with 95% of those tablets bieng iPads.

In fact, iOS devices are becoming enterprise's device of choice in general. The iPhone 4 is Q2 2011's most popular device, while iPad (1 and 2) activations total more than Android smartphone and tablet activations combined.

Ricoh launches eWriter Solutions-- a business-class tablet and back-end service combination for moving paper processes online. 

The Solution consists of the eQuill tablet coupled with eWriter Workflow Services. 

The eQuill connects with eWriter Workflow Services (via either wifi or 3G) and acts as a digital clipboard, taking care of paper-based workflow (forms setup, photocopying, scanning, archiving and paper disposal).

Users cannot install apps on the eQuill, and all data on the device is automatically encrypted.

Blackberry Enterprise Solution Goes Multi-Platform

RIM opens its Blackberry Enterprise Solution (BES) to other platforms-- now incorporating secure device management for both Android and iOS.

The device management solution (done via single web-based console) comes through RIM's recent acquisition of ubi-Suite developer ubitexx. 

The announcement will prove good news to enterprises wanting to manage their growing mobile device populations-- IT administrators will be able to manage devices over-the-air (functions include device activation, software/app distribution and device locking/wiping).
