Yamaha UC (formerly Revolabs) starts shipping the YVC-1000MS-- a USB speakerphone and the first Yamaha product certified for Skype for Business.

Engineered with Yamaha audio technology, it works with both small and large meeting rooms. The microphone and speaker system passed the highest Microsoft standards, specifically the Skype for Business Certification Version 3 tests.

The speakerphone provides a scalable solution able to support the audio requirements of large meeting rooms, rooms with special table configurations and even remote education classes or seminars within Skype for Business. The design provides simple connection to PC via USB or smartphones using Bluetooth.

Prysm announces more functionality for its digital workplace platform at InfoComm 2017, including co-browsing, quick start with video conferencing integration and a new mobile UI.

Co-browsing allows Prysm participants to access content via approved mobile device to view and interact with web content. All enabled users can make edits, while the content owner can monitor permissions and even view content in a secure manner, enhancing the collaboration experience for both in-room and remote participants.

Meanwhile quick start with video conference integration enables employees to access the Prysm platform without logging in for an instant start to meetings. Users can quickly place and control basic video conference settings via Prysm on-screen interface, without need for extra wires or hardware in the room, and participants are alerted to an incoming call, with the option to either accept or decline to easily join an existing meeting.

Yamaha confirms its commitment to the unified communications (UC) market with the development of a dedicated UC department leveraging the expertise of subsidiary Revolabs.

The new department will include Revolabs, and should focus on communications solutions while developing products to help organisations reach their business goals.

Acquired by Yamaha in 2014, Revolabs allowed the Japanese company to enter the UC market. Revolabs is well known for high-quality audio and conferencing solutions, and integration with leading UC providers and software leaders such as Microsoft, Google, Cisco and Zoom.

Damovo Buys Avaya Specialist Vodanet

Enterprise communications provider Damovo continues its European expansion with the acquisition of Swiss Avaya partner Voice & Data Network (Vodanet) for an undisclosed sum.

As the Damovo puts it, the deal allows it to bolster its Avaya capabilities while adding the experience and expertise of the Zurich-based Vodanet team to its team, all in the name of becoming "the leading UC provider in Europe." It is the third recent acquisition of Damovo, following the 2015 buyout of Luxembourg-based IT firm CTTL and the 2016 buy of German Cisco consultancy Netfarmers.

Vodanet offers the full Avaya portfolio, as well as an own cloud-based offering.
