Konica Minolta Intros Workplace Hub

Konica Minolta announces what it claims is a hardware solution able to unify all of an organisation's technology into a single, centralised platform-- the Workplace Hub.

The Workplace Hub is a device reminiscent of a server with a paper-handling system on top. According to the company it creates an ecosystem for the management and coordination of IT infrastructure and services across both existing and future systems, devices and services. A central dashboard provides 360-degree visibility of IT usage patterns across the entire organisation, allowing system management and optimisation.

The company says the hardware, security and solutions comes from HPE, Sophos and Microsoft, while Canonical and BrainTribe bring data management capabilities.

AVI-SPL Opens Shop in Germany

Global AV systems integration and collaboration solutions provider AVI-SPL expands towards Germany with the opening of a Frankfurt office for the servicing of customers in the country.

The company designs, builds and integrates standard solutions for the enhancement of organisation, communication, collaboration and productivity. It names the likes of Microsoft (Surface Hub and Skype for Business), Crestron, Cisco, NEC and Polycom, among others, as partners.

The Frankfurt office will also provide German-speaking assistance with a 24-hour help desk and field services, as well as virtual network operations centre (VNOC) to support its video managed services portfolio in the country. Managing the office is AV industry veteran Johannes Stehr.

Accenture Buys More Services With Octo

Accenture buys further into European IT services as it acquires a 47.4% stake in French consultancy Octo Technology from CEO François Hisquin, company partners and investment house Financière Arbeve.

The price of the deal totals €115 million, or €22.50 per share. Once the deal is signed Accenture plans to tender a further voluntary cash offer to buy the remaining 52.6% of the company. In fact, European equity firm Sycomore Asset Management already announced it will sell its 4.6% share in Octo to Accenture.

The deal marks the second Accenture European services acquisition in a week, following the buyout of Italian Salesforce outfit New Energy Group.

Microsoft Buys Intelligent Scheduling With Genee

Microsoft adds more capabilities to Office 365 as it acquires Genee, developer of an artificially intelligence-powered scheduling service sharing the same name, for an undisclosed sum.

As the company puts it, the buy will "help us further our ambition to bring intelligence into every digital experience," as well as power an experience where "interacting with a virtual assistant is just like interacting with a human on." Using Genee simply requires sending an email with meeting dates written in plain text. The service can follow such instructions to decide on a best time for a meeting, confirm appointments, sync calendars and even reschedule meetings in case of conflicts.

Fujitsu Acquires Symfoni ESM

Fujitsu says it doubled the clout of its ServiceNow consultancy wing in Europe with the acquisition of Symfoni ESM, the Norwegian service management firm. Financial details of the deal are not available.

“ServiceNow is rapidly becoming the de-facto platform for service management,” Fujitsu Digital says. “As our enterprise customers increasingly embrace ServiceNow, they expect Fujitsu to not only provide the services, but also the consultancy know-how to ensure that these Digital Transformation projects are implemented successfully and with a focus on IT and business change. This acquisition effectively doubles our ServiceNow consultancy and delivery capabilities in Europe, making Fujitsu a market leader in this growth area of Cloud consulting and delivery.”
