Private Cloud Proposals from Oracle

Oracle hopes to create a standard for running private clouds with its Cloud Resource Model API.

It is now up to the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) to consider this proposal as a possible standard.

The API provides cloud management software a set of hooks hide provisioning service low-level configuration details from an laaS-styled offering. It could also allow users to deploy virtual servers across clouds run on different hardware platforms.

Fastest Thin Client Within the Cloud?

Wyse Technology claims its latest thin client, the Wyse R10L, is the "fastest" with a superscalar 1.5GHz GPU which supports dual high-res displays, as well as rotation and L-shaped modes.

Teradici's PC-over-IP technology keeps large video and animation files in the server room and off the desktop

Teradici's PC-over-IP technology keeps large video and animation files in the server room and off the desktop.

This PC-over-IP protocol compresses, encrypts and encodes computing at the data center and transmits it "pixels only" across a standard IP network to PCoIP-enabled desktop devices.

PC-over-IP technology allows enterprise PCs and workstations to be centrally managed in a data center while providing high res, full frame rate 3D graphics and HD media, with full USB peripheral interoperability, locally over a LAN or remotely over a high-latency Read more...

Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference kicks off with the company’s loudest message that "Microsoft partners need to be “All In” with the cloud, just like Redmond itself."

Cloud Computing and Sir Peter Rigby

Founded in 1975 with a £2500 investment by Sir Peter Rigby, SCC has grown into Europe's largest independent reseller.

Below is a link to a video of an interview with Sir Peter Rigby, on stage with our own Editor-in-Chief, Bob Snyder.

"I think there are many service-led opportunities. In some respects, I wonder why a small-medium enterprise, or even a middle-sized enterprise wants to have it's own IT function. Why bother? They're not going to keep up to date with these things."

"They're just basically maintaining things. It's very Read more...
