The Nutanix .NEXT 2019 conference has the company extend the Xi Frame desktop-as-a-service solution from the public cloud to the private cloud, as well as the announcement of more availability zones for the Xi Leap disaster recovery service.

As the company puts it, the latest Xi Frame update running on the Nutanix AHV hypervisor allows customers to extend desktop delivery to Nutanix private clouds, integrating virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) services with the Nutanix Neterprise Cloud Platform. A single console provides the management and simultaneous delivery of Xi Frame desktops, and customers can provision 1000s of virtual desktops in "minutes," be it through AWS, Azure or Nutanix private cloud deployments using AHV.

The NEC Corporation of America and NEC Enterprise Solutions EMEA announce NEC HCI-- a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution powered by the HC3 software from Scale Computing.

According to the companies involved, the platform provides a "complete virtualised solution in a single appliance, designed for rapid deployment, ease-of-use, seamless scaling, high performance and cost effectiveness." It is aimed at SMBs and remote or branch offices supporting mission critical applications, and consists of a NEC D120h high density server able to host four individual server nodes. The result is a smaller datacentre footprint, bringing greater efficiency.

VMware announces Enterprise PKS-- aka Pivotal Container Service-- version 1.4, with functionality to allow customers operationalise the cloud-native Kubernetes container orchestration platform.

Enterprise PKS is the result of a partnership with Pivotal. Based on the Kubernetes 1.3 release, PKS 1.4 offers new security and automation features, together with seamless integration with VMware NSXT-T 2.4 virtual networking technology. A converged NSX manager appliance design merging management and central control services on a cluster of nodes promises a threefold increase in pod scalability and high availability. In addition, combining NSX-T with VMware vRealize Network Insight integration provides networking visibiilty down to the application level.

Cloud data integration specialist Talend announces Pipeline Designer-- a web-based tool for the creation of end-to-end data pipelines for the Talend Cloud integration Platform as-a-Service (iPaaS).

As Talend puts it, the graphical designer allows customers to preview live data and transform it easily. A single interface provides means for data engineers and developers to seamlessly design data pipelines across batch and streaming use cases able to scale with the latest hybrid and multi-cloud technologies.
