According to IDC the EMEA networking channel will soon face a changing landscape due to the rapid adoption of cloud-based solutions. 

The analyst describes the networking channel market in EMEA as "a dynamic environment that is constantly evolving, fueled by new technologies, changing customer demands, an alternate vendor landscape, and an uncertain economy." However cloud adoption is also on the rise, as enterprises start centralising their applications, servers, data and storage resources in the name of cost-efficienct and agility.

The WW ethernet switch market grows by 6.1% Y-o-Y and 10.9% Q-o-Q-- but most of that growth comes from Asia/Pacific, the analyst says, mentioning China and India as booming enterprise markets.

Quanta, the biggest contract maker of notebooks in the world, is looking at the server business-- chairman Barry Lam says the company is planning to rival HP, Dell and IBM by offering full server turnkey solutions.

The Taiwanese company already has experience custom-building data centres, taking orders from the likes of Facebook and Google.
