Dell announce refreshes its Precision tower workstation portfolio-- 4 models (T7600, T5600, T3600 and T1650) now replace the 500 series workstation products. 

The new models carry high performance eight-core Intel CPUs for multi-threaded application, generation 3 PCIe I/O support and up to 512GB of quad-channel memory. Dell also offers Nvidia Maximus technology and professional-class graphics card from AMD and Nvidia (up to AMD FirePro V7900 and Nvidia Quadro 6000). 

The company also claims an industry-first-- Reliable Memory Technology (RMT), a Dell tented code programmed at BIOS level the company says eliminates all memory errors on high-end workstations, extending the capability of ECC memory.  Read more...

Xirrus expands the XR-Series Wireless Array line with its first outdoor wifi products-- the XR-1000H hardened array and a selection of outdoor enclosures for the entire XR Array product family. 

The XR-1000H has dual 802.11n 3x3 modular APs operating at up to 450 Mbps, with an integrated controller providing autonomous operation. It is ruggedised for use in variable environments, and can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to 65 degrees Centigrade.

IMS Research estimate IT rack and enclosure revenues will reach nearly $2.6 billion by 2016-- up from estimates of $1.7bn for 2011, with average revenue growth of 9% Y-o-Y over the next 5 years. 

However the continuing Eurozone crisis-- and the drop in infrastructure investment within the region due to that-- will cause weaker growth in 2012. 

Instead other regions will fuel growth, particularly the Middle East and BRIC territories.
