Lightwave Offers EDID-ification

Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) can cause headaches for system integrators.

A data structure provided by a computer display to describe its capabilities to a graphics card, EDID is what enables a pc to know what kind of monitor is connected. EDID Lightware

EDID is defined by a standard published by VESA. If the support for a format is not indicated in the display device's EDID, then (according to the standard) the source is forbidden to send this type of signal.

This may be very convenient for home users – as this guarantees the best interoperability between the different devices – but it can make a lot of trouble for system integrators with more sources and sinks at same time.

Lightware Visual Engineering introduces the Advanced EDID Editor, an embedded software tool in the Matrix Controller software.

Free of charge, it is a stand-alone software which can be very useful in the pro display segment. The Advanced EDID Editor software can be used even if you don't have any Lightware matrix or another device connected. (The full boosting funcionality of this EDID Editor is built into Lightware's Pro Series matrix.)

This useful program helps system-integrators to solve EDID related issues and overcome incompatibility problems by giving the freedom to control the exact signal parameters. With the EDID Editor you can create any virtual resolution and emulate further audio/video behavior. You can even store these EDID headers in a binary file for later use.

The new version of the Matrix Controller (from v3.1.7) can be launched in DEMO mode, which means that a virtual Lightware matrix will be emulated on your PC.
