Interphase launches Penveu, a handheld device can turn any flat surface into an interactive display.
“The incumbent interactive whiteboard manufacturers have been using the same technology for almost 20 years – they don’t want to see change,” Yoram Solomon, VP/GM told VentureBeat. He’s pricing Penveu at retail for 66% less than current interactive whiteboards.
Designed by Frog Design, Penveu is shaped like a teardrop and consists of four buttons, a scroll bar, and a toggle that switches the device between pen and mouse modes.
Penveu "electronically" works like a portable electronic wand on any surface such as a bare wall, computer monitor or projection screen. The "ink" is erased with a click.
Content, such as lesson plans or slide presentations, can be saved via internal memory. After connecting to any VGA-ready device on any OS, Penveu lets the user draw, write and highlight in 9 bright colours (without tarnishing the surface).
Penveu doesn’t require any drivers or software installation.
America’s second-largest school district, in Los Angeles, will be testing out Penveu. And that’s scaring some of the whiteboard makers…
