Need Amnesty? ObjectVideo Makes Its Point

 Amnesty

ObjectVideo’s IP Amnesty Program, intended to give qualified video analytic providers a 60-day window to enter into a global, portfolio-wide patent licensing agreement, seems only to irritate many other vendors.

Sure, it’s generous enough. Participation in the program entails a one-time fee and a pay-as-you-go patent licensing agreement. ObjectVideo will even waive past damages for amnesty program participants.

But the IP Amnesty Program also underlines the fact that ObjectVideo is running over the industry with a legal steamroller that already has companies as big as Sony and Tyco under its wheel.

"With over 45 domestic and international patents awarded and more than 40 pending, this is an opportunity for industry partners to license our patent portfolio without the risk and cost of litigation," says Raul Fernandez, chairman and CEO of ObjectVideo.

The IP Amnesty Program is effective immediately and will be offered to industry partners only until June 1, 2012. For further details, interested parties should contact ObjectVideo directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Meanwhile ObjectVideo announces the general availability of its video analytics product, ObjectVideo (OV)6, which contains a major science revision of the software's core content analysis engine,(significantly improves target detection, separation, tracking and classification of objects within the video scene).
