Imation announces a backup solution for SMBs wanting to combine the benefits of both tape- and cloud-based storage-- the DataGuard purpose-built backup appliance (PBBA) series.
Currently available in two models (T5R and R4), DataGuard PBBAs are the first to handle storage over a single infrastructure using HDDs, removable RDX disk cartridges, replication and cloud storage.
The T5R includes five 3.5" SATA HDDs and one RDX dock, while the R4 carries four SATA HDDs and five USB ports (for optional external RDX docks). Storage on RDX media comes through a file-based NAS interface, allowing the configuration of the DataGuard to backup any file share directory to RDX.
The TFR is designed as a central backup device, while the R4 is ideal for remote and branch office deployments. Both models carry replication software as well as built-in connectivity to cloud storage services such as Amazon and Dropbox.
