Switching, Routing Refresh from Cisco

Cisco refreshes its switching portfolio with upgrades aiming for cloud-based workloads, together with the addition of more services and capabilities to its Integrated Services Routers (ISR). 

Cisco routersAccording to the Cisco Cloud Index, over 50% of data centre workloads will be cloud-based by 2014, with global cloud traffic reaching 1.6 zettabytes per year by 2015.

Cisco's most-sold switching product, the Catalyst 6500, now has 40G ethernet capability, while the Nexus 7000 data centre swtich has 40/100G ethernet. The Catalyst 6500, Catalyst 4500 and ASR 1000 products will also carry Easy Virtual Network configuration technology, together with a virtual services appliance for data centres. 

New products include the Catalyst 4500-X (a 40-port 10 GbE configuration switch) and the Nexus 3064-X switch designed for environments demanding low-latency processing.
