Panasonic Launches Tough Tablets

Panasonic launches 2 tablets making part of the new Toughpad family-- the 10" A1 and 7" B1 "professional-grade" devices with durability features similar to the Toughbook laptop series. 

ToughpadBoth tablets carry Android 3.2 (aka Honeycomb), together with hardware-level encryption, enchanced VPN, 2-piece authentication and custom low level mobile device management features. 

Panasonic says the the devices has MIL-STD-810G ratings for drops and ingress protection ratings for resistance to dust and water, and the A1 is FIPS 140-2 compliant and HIPAA ready. 

The A1 will launch first, and has a Marvell dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB storage (expandable via microSD cards) and 1GB RAM. The 10.1" XGA display is outdoor-viewable, with 1024x768 resolution and 500-nit brightness. 

Connections come through Bluetooth, wifi, micro HDMI and micro USB, as well as either LTE or WiMax for 4G data coverage.
